A huge thanx for Marius Costache, the one who did all the violin recordings. And of course I want to thank also to all these brave artists involved in the WPE project.

As a studio report update, we just finished one song. The other songs are already in progress, so I think before the grand premiere of WPE I will gladly make another update, with the final details.

Musically speaking, ’Where Purgatory Ends’ means contrast between light and darkness and a huge evolution for me in terms of vision and expression.

The fact that I’m playing along on this album with the best guitarist I ever known, makes from WPE the highest point that I could reach. Rune Eriksen it’s one of the most influential musicians, with his fabulous skills in reinventing the musical expression of darkness, which actually it is the main brief of ‘Where Purgatory Ends’.

So, only him could take care of that, to move things forward, to another dimension.”

Regarding WPE, Rune Eriksen says:

“When I learned that Costin was planning a virtual exhibition, and were busy at work in composing soundtrack to the great arts he is known for, I immediately offered my assistance to help finalize the songs. Working and thinking ’outside the box’ has always intrigued me, so I was more than happy to collaborate on this instrumental adventure. The sonic journeys that Costin managed to convey is truly of a unique and inspiring character, so I am happy I could partake and add a bit of my crookedness to it also. A trip beyond and below!”

And finally, after so much time…

Ava Inferi este trupa în care activează celebrul Rune Eriksen, cunoscut publicului ca Blasphemer, notoriul chitarist şi compozitor al legendarei trupe norvegiene Mayhem, alături de care, timp de 13 ani, a conceput capodoperele “Wolf’s Lair Abyss”, “Grand Declaration Of War”, “Chimera” sau “Ordo Ad Chao”. Talentatul muzician este activ şi în trupele Aura Noir sau Twilight of the Gods. Alaturi de Blasphemer şi de trei cunoscuţi muzicieni lusitani, oficiază Carmen Simoes, una dintre cele mai interesante voci feminine ale scenei metal europene, cunoscută datorită colaborărilor cu nu mai puţin celebrii Moonspell şi care s-a dedicat în totalitate trupei Ava Inferi, alături de care a lansat până în acest moment patru albume de studio.

Ultimul material full-length, “Onyx”, mixat şi masterizat în celebrul Unisound Studio din Suedia de către Dan Swano (cunoscut ca lider al trupelor Edge of Sanity sau Nightingale, dar şi ca unul dintre cei mai importanţi producători scandinavi în materie de rock si metal) şi lansat sub egida cunoscutei case de discuri Season of Mist, beneficiază de reacţii extrem de pozitive din partea fanilor şi a publicaţiilor de profil, fiind declarat albumul lunii de către cea mai importanta revistă franceză în materie de rock şi metal, Metallian Magazine.

Ava Inferi este trupa care îi va insoţi pe britanicii de la My Dying Bride de-a lungul întregului turneu britanic programat pentru luna mai, care aniversează cei 20 de ani de existenţă ai trupei, fiind de asemenea confirmată in line-upul celui mai faimos festival scandinav, Inferno Festival.

Astfel ca pe 7 mai 2011, în avanpremiera turneului britanic, Ava Inferi va sosi la Bucureşti pentru un concert exclusiv, un eveniment cu totul special, care se va desfăşura in Wings Club din Bucuresti. Trupa a ales România pentru a lansa noul album de studio în estul Europei datorită legaturii speciale pe care o are cu tara noastră, de la apariţia ca headliner în cadrul Ost Mountain Fest din 2010, până la productia ultimului lor single care promovează albumul “Onyx”, clipul piesei “Majesty” fiind realizat în totalitate în Romania, sub bagheta celui mai cunoscut artist român din zona metal, Costin Chioreanu.

From the deep wintry forests of Samurcasi and the haunted ruins of Chiajna Monastery, “Majesty” is hereby presented.

Director Costin adds: “For me, to make “Majesty” was a real challenge. But when you have really special artists to work with, the true art reveals. It’s by far the most intense video I ever made, spiritually speaking. And that was mostly caused by the intense sharing of artistic thoughts and visions between Rune, Carmen and me and my crew. It was a deep chemistry there, and that is the best air for an artist to breathe.”

Onyx was released in Europe 14th of February, and in North America the 15th Of February 2011.

We were all very tired, so we used our last drop of energy to capture some interesting videos during the Ava Inferi appearance in Romania.  I even tried to get some live special effects, caused by a wicked way of filming… ..in the end the result is at least interesting. So, feel free to check it out and spread the word 

The video is for “Last Sign Of Summer“, a track from 2009 album of Ava Inferi – “Blood Of Bacchus”. The video was directed and edited by Costin Chioreanu, cameras by Costin Chioreanu and Zaharescu Stefan. We had also a huge support from  www.metalhead.ro (video cameras).
