When talking about the origins of Pagan Metal in Germany, one name definitely comes to mind: Falkenbach. This project by Vratyas Vakyas has been active for more than twenty years now and is commonly regarded as a trailblazer and prime mover of a musical genre that combines epic heroism and Germanic mythology as well as Norse-tinged folklore and metallic aggression in a perfect blend – and all that far from the worn-out clichés of a so-called “Pagan Metal scene.” I was really honored by the request coming from their label, Prophecy Productions, to make their first lyric video, for a great track, extracted from their upcoming album.
Heralding the arrival of Falkenbach’s sixth album “Åsa”, the debut of these Heathen Metal pioneers with Prophecy Productions, the new song “Eweroun” will be released as a limited 7″ vinyl single. With its epic atmosphere as well as the interplay of acoustic and metal elements, “Eweroun” marks the stylistic range to be expected of the new album following later this year. The single is limited to 500 copies and side B is adorned with an etching of the band’s logo.
