Well, this is a very important moment, the public announcement of the new Arch Enemy cover and our collaboration. Is pointless to say this art is very important for me. I really liked the concept brought my Michael Amott so I was more than excited to be picked to illustrate it. From the technical point of view is the most complex artwork I ever done. It contains after all, 3 complex arts in one, the main scene and the 2 paintings from the walls…so actually is a triptych…somehow. As regarding the concept…The new born just arrived into this society, is surrounded at birth by the 4 main “elements” of mind’s control. As always, the fifth element should remain encrypted.
ARCH ENEMY will unleash their 9th studio album, War Eternal, worldwide via Century Media Records (Trooper Entertainment in Japan) on June 9th in Europe and June 10th in North America.
Chief song-writer, guitarist and band leader Michael Amott comments: “I was looking for a hand-drawn feel with a unique atmosphere, something that would complement the music that we’ve been working so hard on these last couple of years. In the end my choice fell upon Romanian artist Chioreanu Costin, who’s work I’ve admired for some time. Costin really grasped my vision for the artwork and layout, he’s delivered some of the coolest artwork elements we’ve ever had with ARCH ENEMY!”
