Here I am… finally back from Transylvania International Film Festival.
I want to kindly thank to Mihai Mitrică for arranging everything so smooth for us, you did an amazing job man! Also, I was super happy to meet the other guys from the Shadow Shorts Jury – Marc Carrete (Asmodexia) and Gaz Bailey (Abertoir’s Director – Wales’ International Horror Festival). Super nice guys, very deep and strong in their vision about movies, art and horror culture, in general, things which in the end made our job, as a jury, an extremely simple one. It was almost strange to meet next morning after the Shadow Shorts screenings and realize we all 3 had actually the same top 3 (of course, not precisely in same order, but at least the movies were the same). I am super happy about the final decision, to award “Yardbird”, by Michael Spiccia (Australia).
Another great aspect of TIFF for me this year, was to present my graphic exhibition , organized at Ferdinand Galleries, in the center of Cluj. I want to thank here to Claudiu Marginean for being such a great and pro guy! He, together with Mitrix, really prepared one of the coolest receptions I ever had! I want to thank also to all nice people interested in art showing up at the opening as well! Was a great pleasure to meet all of you and share our thoughts and discuss about interesting things! Also, it was not on teh schedule to screen “Outside The Great Circle” and “Antikythera”, but I am glad that Claudiu is also an inventive guy so he made this possible, transforming my exhibition into a multimedia one.
But most important I really want to thank GG for everything. Since 2014 started I lived under constant big pressure and chaos and without her I really think I could loose completely my mind. Is not that now I am sane , but at least I can write this down and being capable of continuing this crazy life and take it like it is.
I also want to thank so much to Elly and Marius for a wonderful evening and good time in such nice and warm company! Always a pleasure! \m/
The last day of TIFF remind me somehow of “The Twilight Zone”, to keep my speech related to motion picture. Instead of sharing the shuttle just with Gina , Marc Carrete and Gaz Bailey to the Ramada Hotel, where the Awards Ceremony pre-party was…I ended up sharing the shuttle with Gina, Lucian Mindruta and his wife. Because I do not watch tv nor reading newspapers for the last 6 years, I will reduce Lucian’s presentation as being a television star, as I personally do know more, and I don’t like to base my text on other people’s knowledge, this status being a totally personal one. When we got in front of Ramada hotel, he wanted to make a selfie with all of us in front of the red carpet…and so he did, I also he uploaded this picture on his facebook. Well…yeah, completely Twilight Zone. Meeting Gaz and Marc at the reception gave us back the inner peace, necessary to “survive” in a place full of TV stars or public figures.
The story of TIFF 2014 ends with 10 hours back trip with train. Yes, this time were 10, not 12 like when we went to Cluj. But, because CFR really wants to keep their profile as low as possible and make you really suffer, they thought is better in middle of summer to fill the train with warm air , not clod. I do not have words to describe the trip back, that was a 10 hours horror movie, where the main characters need to live all the unpleasant moments a human being can live in a fucking train. I will NEVER take the train in Romania for distances bigger than 200 km, and that JUST if I will have no alternative.
Here are all the arts from the exhibition plus pictures from the event:
